TIMES Review
''A Salty Piece of Land'' is very possibly
Buffett's best work to date. KINKY FRIEDMAN
Jimmy Buffett, #1 bestselling author, flies back into view with a novel set in the Caribbean, involving a lighthouse, a mystery, a wild cast of characters, and more than a few bottles of tequila. If Tully Mars had known what he was getting himself into when he agreed to help find the lost lens belonging to the lighthouse on Cayo Loco--well, he might never have agreed to help in the first place. Then again, maybe he simply would have taken a slightly longer nap before setting off on his wild adventure. And it isn't just Tully--whom Buffett fans will remember well from Jimmy's bestselling Tales from Margaritaville--on the madcap quest. There's Ix-Nay, an Indian shaman with a dislike of the media; Mr. Twain, Tully's loyal steed; Cleopatra Highbourne, the 102-year-old owner of Cayo Loco and Cuban baseball addict; Captain Kirk, fishing trip leader and boatman extraordinaire; former country music star Sean Spurl, aka Tex Sex; Bucky Norman, a Wyoming cowboy who has found his way to the ocean; and even a fellow named Jimmy Buffett, who decides he might as well join in on the party. other three best-selling

Buffett - Tales
From Margaritavision (2000)
This compilation of music videos produced for Jimmy Buffett since the early '70s will tickle hisformidable Parrothead nation while providing pop historians with a time capsule tracing the evolution of pop video clips since their pre-MTV days. Reviewer: parrotheadquarters (see more about me) from Los Angeles, CA I was fortunate to see a preview of this video and I was extremely pleased. Highly recommended for any Parrot Head and a definite must view during and after the concert season. My only regret is that it is not being released on DVD, but I can certainly overlook this. Buffett

==================================
===============================
Buffett's tropical tunes and seafaring tales offer a temporary escape for
every office-bound baby boomer with a mortgage, a two-car garage and
a surly boss. Few can resist the singer-songwriter's balmy fantasyland
filled with palm trees, sandy beaches, cold beer, fast boats,
cheeseburgers, margaritas and romance. Sure, there are sharks to reckon
with and volcanoes to flee and broken hearts to mend. But--Buffett's
message dictates--they can be dealt with. Buffett majored in journalism
at
Auburn University and the University of Southern Mississippi, working
briefly at Billboard magazine before launching his career as a folk and
country singer and songwriter. A failed marriage and a move from
Nashville to Key West, Fla., triggered a new appreciation for the healing
powers of the tropical sun. Buffett started writing earnest, positive songs
with humor and wit, and his audiences grew slowly but steadily. He
scored his first hit in 1974 with the wonderfully wistful ballad "Come
Monday," but it was the booze-in-the-blender philosophical shrug of
"Margaritaville" that put the wind in Buffett's sails. With little radio
play
and a glaring shortage of hit singles--but with a loyal and large group
of
Parrothead fans--Buffett has become one of the wealthiest beach bums in
history.

Jimmy Buffett came to Nashville with hopes of becoming a country and
folk singer, and even though he eventually made his mark as a tropical
troubadour, his country roots still show. Buffett's songs about beaches,
boats, booze and women offer a temporary escape for every
office-bound baby boomer with a mortgage, three-car garage and a surly
boss. Few can resist the singer/songwriter's balmy fantasyland filled with
palm trees, fast boats, cold beer, cheeseburgers, margaritas and
romance. Sure, there are sharks to reckon with and volcanoes to flee and
broken hearts to mend, but Buffett's songs assure us they can be dealt
with. Buffett majored in journalism at Auburn University and the

magazine before heading to Nashville to write songs. A failed marriage

steadily. He scored his first big hit in 1974 with the wonderfully wistful
ballad "Come Monday," but it was the booze-in-the-blender
philosophical shrug of "Margaritaville" that put the wind in Buffett's
